There are several organizations who donate hair to those who suffer from various conditions that result in hair loss. Some of the condtions that cause hair loss are Trichotillomania, Chemo Therapy, Radiation (Cancer Treatments), Burns, Alopecia Areata, Alopecia Totalis, Alopecia Universealis, and Traction Alopecia. Many of these conditions affect children as well as adults.
One such agency is Wigs For Kids founded by Jeffrey Paul. Wigs for Kids has been providing this much needed service for 30 years and there is no cost to the recipients. Jeffrey Paul is an Author and Entrepreneur and a Motivational Speaker.
Another wonderful partnership was formed in July, 2006 between Pantene and The American Cancer Society. Pantene’s goal is to grow long, strong hair and to turn that hair into free real hair wigs for women with Cancer. Thus far more than 500,000 pony tails have been donated for free.
Children With Hair Loss (CWHL) was founded in September, 2000 and is located in South Rockwood, Michigan. They provide customized human hair replacement and care kits to over 300 children a year at no cost.
These are only a few organizations who provide these much needed services to adults and children in need. What an amazing feeling it must be to know that you are making someone’s life better, especially after they have been ill and had their appearance altered in such a drastic way. Let’s hope that 2015 is the best year yet for helping everyone with hair loss and that awareness is greater than ever of the many services and providers who dedicate themselves to restoring hair to those who are in need.
